Struggling with urges to harm

Postby Hope » Thu Feb 06, 2014 7:26 pm

Feeling ****. Really triggered to harm. Not felt like this for a long time, and it's been years since I last cut. Any prayers greatly appreciated...
If anyone wants to check out my poetry on the theme of self-injury, I've created a website http://poetryscape.wordpress.com/anonym ... s-homepage

With Jesus I can take it,
With Him I know I can stand,
No matter what may come my way,
My life is in your hands.

It's lonely when you don't even know yourself...

Hope,

so sorry urges have become so strong. Is it triggered from the depth of therapy you are doing?
I am praying you can keep finding delaying methods and ways to get through without harming and that father God will come close and bring His peace and ease the urges.

Thank you everyone for prayers. I handed my knife to a friend yesterday. She prayed with me and I renewed my baptism promises. She anointed me with oil making the sign of the cross on my scars, praying for protection. It was a powerful experience and I have felt God's help through it. But I also feel a bit vulnerable and freaked out that she has seen and touched my scars. So I'm feeing a bit awkward about seeing her at church tomorrow

So glad you were able to talk to a friend and give the knife to her and to pray with her. Sorry that's left you feeling vulnerable. I have felt vulnerable too after being honest with people, and awkward about seeing them again. But I hope that you're still glad you were open with her. I think in the long run having people we can be honest with, so that it isn't a secret that we carry alone, is a good thing. But I appreciate it's really tough. How was it at church today? E x

Thanks everyone. Church was hard, but then I met up with my friend to talk through how I was feeling, which helped. Been low this week, so GP has arranged for me to have an assessment with mental health team this afternoon
