Interesting inspiration

I spent this afternoon at a butterfly farm. On two occasions I watched a Morpho butterfly for at least five minutes. It's wings were together over its back - an interesting pattern - with 'eyes' - but brown, comparatively plain. I thought that this is often how I present Christianity - "Thou shalt not" etc. - not appealing. Yet inside that butterfly's wings were startling, beautiful iridescent turquoise - real beauty; the attraction for which I was waiting.

I found myself singing:
Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me;
All His wondrous compassion and purity.
O Thou Spirit divine
Heart and nature refine
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.

(one of the very few writings by Albert Orsborn - a former General of the Salvation Army, and to my mind one of the song-writers whose words have had most impact on me - to 'escape' into the world outside - CSSM Choruses, for example - that dates me!)
